Need for multifaith spiritual care in our community is more vital than ever during this time of unprecedented health and economic crisis. The COVID-19 pandemic has amplified the importance of spiritual care with significant increases in feelings of anxiety, doubt, guilt, anger, uncertainty, and more.

Hospital Chaplains

ECS Board Certified Chaplains are an integral part of the patient care team at the hospitals we serve.

FOR PATIENTS: Chaplains help strengthen the spiritual and holistic health of people in their care. They provide compassionate, nonjudgmental, and culturally sensitive advocacy for patients and their families during times of trauma.

FOR HOSPITAL STAFF: It can feel impossible to focus on your work when you have a personal crisis. ECS Chaplains understand the challenges employees face in the workplace and at home, and provide spiritual support to hospital staff during times of stress and grief caused by traumatic patient experiences.

Chaplains help staff re-frame work and personal issues to find creative ways to cope with workplace stress, to be optimistic, and to problem solve.

Senior Living Facility Chaplains

A healthy spiritual outlook can improve someone’s sense of well-being, positivity, and comfort

FOR SENIORS: Chaplains offer non-judgmental conversation, blessings, prayers, and spiritually-based coping skills that help residents find peace during the often confusing and difficult end-of-life experience.

FOR FAMILIES: Family members are often strongly affected by the news of a loved one’s diagnosis and with the realities of their day to day care. Chaplains are trained to listen compassionately, can help family members understand what’s happening, and find ways to cope with and navigate these emotions.
